Revelation

That people seem to forgo the acceptance of an individual in order to gain the acceptance of the group. I know it is human nature and part of the need to belong to your village, to not alienate the herd, but I must remind myself not to do this to MY friends.
Not that I have a herd. Never really have. They tend to turn me out too. And I've learned to live without them. I would rather be loved by a few than tolerated by many.

You need to be cautious about this. Many times, I have chosen the individual over the group, only to be betrayed by the individual.

The best solution I have found is these two things. First, be absolutely honest of your limitations and expectations with the person. Second, communicate to them in no uncertain terms that should they betray your choice of them over the more convenient path, you will reach down their throat and pull out their rectum.

When you set the terms of the relationship, it makes things a lot smoother.

You see Sensei, I don't think that I have to choose one or the other. I think I can befriend both. That might mean that the two friendships don't mix, but that's ok too. We bring different people into our lives for differnet reasons.
